Waiting on the first advance review for a new title to pop up is a lot like the weeks leading up to Christmas when you’re a kid… very exciting, a little bit stressful, and above all, interminable! HURRY UP AND GET HERE!!!
The wait is finally over for THE RUDE EYE OF REBELLION by J.R.H. Lawless, which launches in ebook (and a special hard cover edition!) on Sept 15. The first advance review is up on Goodreads and NetGalley, and it answers a very important question. Two, actually.
No, not whether the book is any good. We’ve got full confidence there, so quit being a smart alec.
The big question for any sequel (RUDE EYE follows ALWAYS GREENER as Book 2 of The General Buzz) is whether it’s capable of standing on its own or if you need to read the first one in order to enjoy it.
And the second question is somewhat related: Will anyone who hasn’t read the first book even bother to read the sequel, whether it’s accessible or no?
Luckily for us, the very first reviewer gives us a clear answer to both questions in her very first line:
A resounding YES and YES!
Of course, we wanted RUDE EYE to be accessible to readers who didn’t start with Book 1, but we’ve all read Book 1 (several times) so it’s hard to know for certain we hit the nail on the head. Good job, us!
The reviewer—one Claire R., to be specific—also described the book in this delightful, succinct, and altogether accurate way:
And seriously, who wouldn’t want to read that?
